Earn a credit for driving clean
For the third consecutive year, electric vehicle drivers in this region may be eligible for a financial credit on their energy bill - for driving clean and contributing to better air quality and the fight against climate change. If you drive an all-electric or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, you may qualify for the annual Electric Vehicle Climate Credit (EVCC). This credit is part of a statewide program administered by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions in California. Whether you drive an all-electric vehicle or a plug-in hybrid, you can apply for the credit.
In 2018, around 15,000 SDG&E customers earned an Electric Vehicle Climate Credit of $5001 for driving a clean vehicle. In 2017, a credit of about $200 went to approximately 7,000 drivers. The EV Climate Credit varies each year depending on the amount of revenues generated from the sale of carbon credits and the number of applicants for the credit. At this time, it's not possible to estimate the 2019 credit amount. Previous year's participation does not automatically qualify you for the 2019 application.
Enrollment for the 2019 Electric Vehicle Climate Credit is open through May 31, 2019.
Remember, you can pay less at the plug with an EV Time-of-Use (TOU) pricing plan. Drivers who enroll in the EV-TOU 5 plan can charge their car overnight for as little as 9¢ kW/h from midnight to 6 a.m. There is a basic monthly service fee of $16. Visit sdge.com/EVpricing to learn more.
THE 2019 EVCC APPLICATION FORM IS NOW AVAILABLE. 2019 IS THE LAST YEAR FOR THE ELECTRIC VEHICLE CLIMATE CREDIT. APPLY NOW.
