SDG&E Employees Give Back to the Community

The people of SDG&E are deeply invested in our communities. We work, live, and play in San Diego and south Orange County communities, and we share the goal of making those communities better places. SDG&E employees volunteer their time and talent to support hundreds of different causes in the community. The SDG&E Environmental All-Stars and SDG&E Challenge Grant programs are just a couple of examples of how giving back is a top priority to the people of SDG&E.

SDG&E employees are passionate about protecting the environment, both on and off the job. Each year, more than 1,500 SDG&E employees and their families volunteer with Team SDG&E for Environmental All Stars project like:

  • Least Tern Habitat Restoration with the San Diego Audubon Society
  • Solar Build with GRID Alternatives
  • Coastal Cleanup Day with I Love A Clean San Diego
  • Home Build with San Diego Habitat for Humanity
  • Calling All Beach Lovers with Outdoor Outreach
  • Crest Canyon Restoration with San Diego Canyonlands

In 2017, SDG&E employees gave well over $780,000 from their own paychecks to local charities and other non-profit causes.

A part of SDG&E employee giving is through SDG&E’s Challenge Grant program, which organizes employee campaigns to raise funds and provide education for non-profit organizations such as:

  • The Burn Institute
  • The Council of the Navy League San Diego Council (Morale, Welfare, & Education)
  • The Make-A-Wish Foundation
  • The San Diego Humane Society
  • The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
  • Ronald McDonald House Charities San Diego
  • The San Diego LGBT Community Center
  • Alzheimer’s San Diego
  • Pedal the Cause for Cancer Research
  • Batten Disease Support & Research Association
  • Habitat for Humanity
