Programa Base Interruptible

Thank you for your interest in our Base Interruptible Program where you can earn monthly bill credits by proposing your own power reduction levels, to a preset Firm Service Level, when a Base Interruptible Event Day is called. In 2014, there were three Base Interruptible Event Days called, but on average a Base Interruptible Event Day is called once per year.
 
Businesses most likely to succeed on the Base Interruptible Program are ones that can reduce electric load, when a Base Interruptible Event Day is called, by 15% of their monthly average peak demand with a minimum of 100 kilowatts (kW).
 
In order to maximize your savings potential, we'll help you develop a load reduction plan after which you decide the number of kW that you'll be able to reduce when a Base Interruptible Event Day is called. Every month after we’ll provide you with monthly bill credits up to $10.80 per kilowatt (kW)*. If no load reduction actually takes place, you’ll still earn the credit.

How to Sign Up

You can enroll directly with SDG&E or through a third-party Demand Response Aggregator. New customers are enrolled on the 1st of every month.

Step 1 - Contact us

Contact your Account Executive or, if you don’t have one, contact the Base Interruptible Program/Demand Response program manager line at 1-866-377-4735 or via email [email protected].
 

Step 2 - Develop load reduction plan and determine how much you can reduce

Once we confirm that your business is eligible we will provide you with the necessary data to help you understand what success would look like for your business on the Base Interruptible Program.

Step 3 - Fill out enrollment documentation

Please fill out and submit the following documents:

  1. The contract which can downloaded at the bottom of the page
  2. The insurance declaration
  3. Load Reduction Plan/Firm Service Level - Make sure you discuss the best way to submit this with your Account Executive or Base Interruptible Program/Demand Response program manager.

Email all completed documents to your Account Executive or [email protected]. After we review the documentation we will contact you to schedule a pre-enrollment test event. All test events are completed through our authorized contractor ASW.

Step 4 - You're approved

You’ll receive a welcome letter along with the signed contract.

Bill Credit & Penalty Amounts

Participants will receive the following for a monthly bill credit during certain periods:

May 1 - October 31= $10.80/kW monthly bill credit
November 1 - April 30 = $1.80/kW monthly bill credit
 
Participants will be penalized for excess energy use above the preset Firm service level:

May 1 - October 31= $7.80/kWh penalty
November 1 - April 30= $1.20/kWh penalty
